Haiti - Health : Summit on USAID investment in Haiti's health sector
Thursday in Washington DC on Capitol Hill, Dr. Florence Duperval Guillaume, the Minister of Health attended a summit on the impacts of the US government investment in the health sector in Haiti.

The summit organized under the leadership of "Management Sciences for Health" (MSH) in addition to the Minister Guillaume, brought together among others Uder Antoine, the coordinator of the Office of Management and Human Resources (OMRH), representatives and staff of the US Congress and various Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) working in the health sector with funding from the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Was discussed inter alia : the link between investment in health and local economic activities, NGOs strategies to improve health and overcome the emerging challenges and the historical and political context of Haiti's health system..

According to Uder Antoine, "the Results Based Financing (FBR) remains an effective tool for improving of the management of the health system and should serve to rationalize the use of resources by seeking an alignment of donors on national priorities on the health sector."

Guilaume Minister thanked the US government for his contribution in the area and recalled that NGOs must align their programs with the national health policy "Together, we will succeed to ensure access to services and health care for the people most vulnerable in the country."
