Haiti - Economy : Launching of a business accelerator 24/02/2015 09:59:03
On Friday, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) has launched the Program to Support the Productive Development (PDAP) a business accelerator open to all entrepreneurs and all initiatives that meet the criteria.
Organizations and institutions working in the private sector development or coordinating support programs to small and medium-sized enterprises, can also direct these entrepreneurs to the business accelerator.
MCI invites all those who are interested, to submit their proposals (ideas or business plans) to the Business Support Services (SAE) put in place in the ten Department or to the Development Centre of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (CDEE). All information is available in these structures.
Business accelerators :
This is a set of initiatives supporting the creation and development of small and medium enterprises:
- Studies on the growth potential sectors ;
- Days and business meetings for networking of a wide group of entrepreneurs, investors, suppliers and buyers ;
- Seminar-workshops for reflection and sharing of information on business opportunities ;
- Training programs for small producers and entrepreneurs and for personal of credit local and financial institutions.
A direct management support and technical assistance to small entrepreneurs and producers:
- Intervening in specific sectors ;
- Whose activities pose a high risk ;
- Who do not have access to local capital market.
Ease of access to finance for small producers and entrepreneurs. The essential aspects for eligible companies to the accelerator are :
- Economically and financially viable businesses ;
- Formal businesses or committing to formalize ;
- Companies operating mainly in the priority sectors identified by the MCI or have an innovative idea or a very high success potential.
Other aspects :
- Businesses undergoing creation or development ;
- Companies with potential for development, but experiencing difficulties in finding financing ;
- Companies with a need for technical or financial assistance.
Priority proposals :
- Strategic companies for the development of industries and industrial micro-parks ;
- Initiatives from organization of women and youth dedicated to the emergence of business creation projects ;
- Companies with significant growth potential and job creation ;
- Activities based on the production, processing and / or promotion of local products and services ;
- Company offering new products / services or of an innovative nature ;
- Company that satisfies not yet needs met by the market.
