Haiti - Quebec : A Haitian woman awarded by the National Assembly 01/03/2015 09:17:55 Kathleen Weil stressed that Quebecers of black communities are in Quebec for over four centuries and participate since then to its history and its development. "Diversity is inseparable from the history of Quebec and its evolution. We must not only remember the important events in our history but also of its protagonists, among themincluded many people from black communities. Some have achieved great things in their sphere of activity. Others have marked the history of communities through their social and community involvement. All these people were involved in the development of Quebec and its influence in the world," concluded the minister. Recall that the Quebec National Assembly Medal is presented by the deputies in recognition to individuals representative of their choice. Learn more about Fabienne Colas : Fabienne Colas, of Haitian origin, arrived in Quebec in 2003. Actor, director and producer, she directed the Fabienne Colas Foundation, an organization that promotes film, arts and culture, as well as her own production company, Zaza Production. In 2005, Ms. Colas hosted the Black International Film Festival of Montreal, the first cultural event dedicated to the promotion of culture and talents of black communities. She also starred in several Quebec productions for the cinema and television. In 2008, she directed her first film, "Minuit" where she got the lead role. Lecturer, consultant and mentor to young entrepreneurs, Ms. Colas was the recipient of the Black History Month in 2010 in the category "Cultural Events". HL/ HaitiLibre
