Haiti - Culture : Reactivation of the Interministerial Committee of Management of National Historic Park
Last weekend, Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture visited the North to inquire about the evolution of the Project to Support the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (PAST), made possible by a grant agreement between the Haitian government and the World Bank. She also visited several heritage sites of the region such as the ruins of Fort Picolet [built in 1739 at the corner of a cliff around the Rival beach to the west of Cap-Haitien with superb views over the Bay of Cap Haitien beyond the Fort-Liberté Bay], the former colonial prison of Cap, the Citadelle and the Sans Souci Palace "The Cultural Heritage is the most convincing proof of our identity," declared the Minister of Culture to a group of regional representatives of the National Heritage Preservation Institute (ISPAN) in training at the Citadelle Henry.

On the sidelines of this displacement the Minister Raton, spoke especially with some regional officials including Ms. Dieudonne E. Luma, Director of the Regional Bureau of Tourism in North and Luke Thélus, representative of the Ministry of Culture in the National Historical Park Management Unit.

She took the opportunity to engage in discussions that should lead to the reactivation of the Interministerial Committee of Management of National Historic Park As a reminder, this Committee was established by the Prime Minister on 9 August 2012. It is composed of representatives of the Ministries of Culture; Tourism; Planning and External Cooperation; of the Interior and Local Authorities; of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development and the Minister of the Environment.

However, apart from the representatives of Culture (Luke Thélus) and Tourism (Kendrick Demesvar) other representatives of the Ministry are expected...
in order to stimulate the Interministerial Committee for Management the Minister appealed to his peers to delegate their representatives to the Committee to establish the optimal framework for the operationalization of the PAST Project and the management of the National Historical Park / Citadelle, Sans-Souci, Ramiers (PNH/CRSS)
