Haiti - Culture : 7th Transcultural Forum of Contemporary Art 01/04/2015 12:32:38 Creators and specialists international from Canada, the Caribbean, Argentina, Cuba, Germany, Togo, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic, will present their works alongside a dozen Haitian artists. "Since its inception in April 2000, the Forum Transcultural helped launch internationally many artists of the new generation such as Maksaens Denis, the sculptors of the Grand Rue and Tessa Mars," says Barbara Prézeau-Stephenson, Commissioner of the event. During 10 days: conferences, screenings, debates, exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, photography, multimedia creations will punctuate the Forum, as well as performances, guided tours and creative workshops in public parks. Program Overview : Atis nan Kay la : Art lovers will enjoy a walking tour of some of the most beautiful Gingerbread Houses of Haiti in Pacot. Rara bands will accompany visitors during the discovery tour of the rich architectural and cultural beauty of Haiti. Conferences : During the duration of the Forum, conferences will be held in different parts of Port-au-Prince around art critics, artists, curators and art historians. Exhibition at the Villa Kalewès : A retrospective exhibition highlighting the 15 years of AfricAméricA in partnership with Kolektif 509. Paintings, sculptures, video installations, digital art and performances will be presented during a week in the oldest gingerbread house of Petionville. Art in the Park : Workshops of performance and art every day in public parks such as Place Boyer. Visitors will have the chance to explore their creativity by working with local and international artists who will teach them the techniques of painting and sculpture.
