Haiti - Politic : 212th anniversary of the death of Toussaint Louverture
Tuesday, at the Champ de Mars, the President Michel Martelly, attended the ceremony commemorating the 212th anniversary of the death of Toussaint Louverture. This remembrance ceremony was held in the presence of Me Jules Cantave, President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), Godson Orélus, Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), the Senate President Andris Riche and Cabinet Ministers members.

"The commemoration of the 212th anniversary of the death of the illustrious Toussaint Louverture challenges us about the need to prioritize solidarity and unity," believes the President Martelly which renews the commitment of his administration to continue the fight to safeguard our sovereignty of free and independent people.

"Honor and Tribute to the Precursor of the National Independence of the first black republic in the world, the famous Toussaint Louverture. Thank you to the first of Blacks, Toussaint Louverture, for showing us the way to freedom and human dignity. Death to Fort de Joux, France, Toussaint Louverture has embodied the symbol of the emancipation of peoples from the yoke of slavery. 212 years after his death in his cell at Fort de Joux, Toussaint Louverture continues to inspire the world through its humanist values," declared Martelly.



Then the President Martelly accompanied among others of his Prime Minister, Evans Paul, Michèle G. Frisch Director General of MUPANAH, went to the Museum of Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH), to attend the commemorative ceremony of 32 years of memory of MUPANAH. On this occasion took place the opening of two exhibition: "Commemoration of the Death of Toussaint Louverture, His Life, His Genius" and "The Great Masters of the Popular Haitian Painting (1945-1970)."

"I entrust the entire community to rise to the dimension of dreams of the founders Fathers that laid the foundation for a strong nation. The new Haiti I am strives relentlessly to arise, will only see that day in the unit, with the help of all," declared the President Martelly on this occasion.

The President Martelly took the opportunity to reiterate its determination to continue its efforts to boost the Haitian economy while promoting national unity. The Head of State invited all sectors of national life to join forces for the smooth running of country and to follow the example of the founding fathers of the nation. Finally, the President welcomed the efforts of the Museum's management, for the organization of this exhibition to showcase the works of the great masters of art and Haitian painting.
