Haiti - FLASH : New day of violence in Ouanaminthe
Thursday the city of Ouanaminthe (North-East of Haiti) experienced a new outbreak of violence while over a hundred very determined protesters took once again the street https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13601-haiti-flash-extreme-tension-at-the-border-a-peacekeeper-shot-dead.html

The demonstrators, who require in bulk: drinking water, electricity, jobs, repairing of streets, lower food prices and the resignation of President Martelly, erected barricades of burning tires and rubbish blocking several streets of the city. Tension was particularly strong in the areas of Mapou, Dulaire and Duhau where police had to use tear gas and firing into the air to disperse the demonstrators. Until mid evening, tires continued to burn, especially close to the former office of Teleco.

Protests were also reported in Fort-Liberté where residents demanded among other things, the electrical connection to the power plant of the free zone of Caracol.

At least 3 Dominican trucks loaded with goods were retained on the border area on the Haitian side by demonstrators. Early intervention by agents of the National Police of Haiti and the Minustah peacekeepers allowed to move the trucks and prevent a more serious accident.

Following these new incidents, Geovanny Escotto, the President of the National Federation of Dominican Transport (Fenatrado) in Dajabón, said that others Dominican drivers refused to enter Haiti Thursday because security was not insured.

Moreover, Andrés Navarro, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dominican said he was going to address the issue of strengthening of the security of Dominican truckers carrying goods to Haiti with Sandra Honoré, the Head of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (Minsutah). https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13620-haiti-security-maximo-delgado-accuses-haiti-of-violating-the-truckers-protection-agreement.html
