Haiti - Economy : Slight acceleration of the rise in the Consumer Prices (March 2015)
The Index of Consumer Prices (ICP) of March 2015 is marked by a slight acceleration in prices month on month which translates into an increase of 0.4% against 0.3% in February. However, annual rate of inflation fell by two percentage points from the previous month from 6.6% to 6.4%.

The indices that have contributed most to the monthly increase include: "Food, Beverage & Tobacco" (+ 0.6%), "Clothing and fabrics, footwear" (+ 0.6%), "Rent Housing, Energy and Water" (+ 0.3%) and "Planning, Equipment and Maintenance Housing" (+ 0.3%).

Note that the increase in the index "Food, Beverage & Tobacco" which represents more than 50% of household budgets especially comes from: beef (+ 0.8%), of goat meat (+ 0.5%), chicken (+ 1.8%), ham (+ 1.3%), the red herring (+ 1.9%), salt herring (+ 0.9%), powdered milk (+ 1.0%), eggs (+ 1.2% ), peanut butter (+ 2.1%), bananas (+ 2.7%), the pumpkin (+ 2.5%), the kazoo, pumpkin (+ 2.8%), leeks (+ 2.6%), the eggplant (+ 3.0%), cabbage (+ 2.9%), onions (+ 1.9%), garlic (+ 1.2%), carrots (+ 2.4%), tomatoes (+ 2.6%), yams (+ 2.6%), malanga (+ 1.9%), cassava (+ 2.0%), sweet potato (+ 2.1%) and potatoes (+ 2.6%), orange (+ 1.3%) and chadèque (+ 2.6%).

The increase in the index "Clothing, Textiles and Footwear" is mainly due to the increase in products such as tissues (+ 1.0%), dress (+ 1.0%), making clothes (+ 0.6%), shoes and tennis (+ 0.8%) and sandals (+ 0.6%).

The upward trend of the index "Rent Housing, Energy and Water" comes mainly from the rental housing (+ 0.3%) and kerosene (+ 1.7%).

As for the increase in the index "Planning, Equipment and Housing Maintenance" it results of the increase primarily : of the price of living room furniture (+ 1.0%), dining room (+ 1.0%), bed (+ 1.1%), the mattress (+ 1.0%), refrigerator (+ 0.8%) and disinfectant (+ 2.1%).
