Haiti - Tourism : Delivery of 18 tourist taxis in Cap Haitien
Friday, as part of his tour in the North, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13680-haiti-politic-tour-of-president-martelly-in-the-north.html the President Michel Martelly, in the presence, among others, of local authorities, of Maryse Noel, the Director General of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTIC) and Ms. Dieudonne Luma Etienne, the former Regional Director of MTIC, proceeded to Hugo Chavez International Airport of Cap Haitien, to the official key handover of 18 brandnew tourist taxi to driver guides in the city of Cap-Haitien.

The first fleet of tourist taxi to the Northern Region is composed of Hyundai brand minivan, wearing white, red and green color and the hibiscus (the logo of MTIC).

In her speech Maryse Noel said that the program was aimed at professionalizing the transport sub-sector in the country. This program is part of a partnership between car dealerships, the Banque Nationale de Credit (BNC), Haitian Popular Bank (BPH) and the organization of management of the Destination (OGD). The Haitian Government through the Ministry of Tourism intends to strengthen through this initiative, the tourist transport in Haiti to better assist tourists and revitalize this economic sector.



The Head of State has indicated that through this initiative, the drivers of tourist taxis have become entrepreneurs today. He wished success to these drivers grouped in associations and also congratulated all the actors who were involved to make this program possible. Very satisfied, Eddy Jean Hyppolite, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the Martelly administration for this initiative that comes change their social status.

The program also aims to professionalize the transport sub-sector in the country, particularly in the West, the North and South.
