Haiti - Culture : Haiti Film Fest 2015 in New York
Within the framework of month of Haitian heritage celebrated in the United States in May, Haiti Cultural Exchange (HCX), a non-profit organization based in New York, announced the third edition of its annual Haitian Film Fest, which will take place in several venues throughout the city of New York from 8 to 15 May 2015.

During the Festival, HCX will present some 15 screenings, documentaries, short and feature films, of Haitian filmmakers such as Arnold Antonin, Mario Delatour, and of Ciné Institute that describe the diversity, depth and the vibrant spirit of the Haitian contemporary film covering topics such as exile, memory and culture. Discussions will follow the screenings to learn more of filmmakers about their inspiration, techniques and obstacles. Academics are invited to deepen the themes of the films.

HCX gathered a distinguished team of film aficionados to guide this year's festival include the writer Edwidge Danticat, filmmakers Jonathan Demme and Jerry Lamothe, and the author Henry Louis Gates Jr.


The members of the Festival Board also include : Arnold Antonin, Fritz Archer, Marc Baptiste, David Bell, Edwidge Danticat, Jonathan Demme, Guetty Felin, Henry Louis Gates Jr, Curtis John, Jerry Lamothe, Anne Lescot, Michelle Materre, Patrick Ulysse, Marc Henry Valmond and Frantz Voltaire.

The opening evening of the 3rd Haiti Film Fest will be held in DROM, in the heart of East Village 85 Avenue A (between 5th St. and 6th St.) NYC. DROM, NYC. Carel Pedre, a Haitian radio personality, will be the master of the evening ceremony where will be presented a selection of short films, and performances by Sanba Zao Lakou Mizik and rap artist Ioan Délice.
