Haiti - Culture : Inauguration of the kiosk Occide Jeanty
Thursday, on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of his accession to power, the President Michel Martelly accompanied by Prime Minister Paul Evans proceeded to the inauguration of the renovation works and of expansion of the kiosk Occide Jeanty, who was turned into amphitheater open, with bleachers with a capacity of 4,000 seats, an esplanade with 1,000 standing places and many extras, including dressing rooms, VIP lounge, ticketing, shopping areas and restaurants; it was rebuilt in 24 months by the Housing Construction and Public Buildings Unit (UCLPB) with the support of the Canadian Government at a cost of $3.8 million.

This new cultural infrastructure involved in the vision and the will of the Head of State to build in the area of Champ de Mars a cultural and artistic city. The students of national schools of Chili and Caroline Chauveau as well as from high schools Fritz Pierre Louis, Alexandre Pétion, Jean Jacques Dessalines, Firmin, of Cinquantenaire and ofCarrefour Feuille among others, have taken part in the ceremony, which took place on background music, orchestrated by the students of the National Institute of Haiti Music (INAMUH), the Holy Trinity Philharmonic Orchestra and the Fanfare of the National Palace.

The President Martelly in the presence of partners who contributed to this project of modern reconstruction, shortly before the ribbon cutting thanked the Canadian government "that proved the extent of his willingness to help us transform the face of Champs de-Mars," and invited ta the same time all the youth all the youth to invest fully in their studies.

For Ms. Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture, who applauds the efforts of the Head of State, the renovation of Kiosk Occide Jeanty is crucial for Culture. Note that this Kiosk named after a famous composer, trumpeter, pianist and orchestra leader of Haiti (1860-1936), was built by the Haitian engineer Maurice Solomon.
