Haiti - Education : «Education is a weapon of mass construction» dixit Michaëlle Jean
Michaëlle Jean, the Secretary General of the Francophonie, closed the 2015 Global Forum on Education organized by UNESCO, in Incheon (Republic of Korea), which brought together the international educational community in order to adopt the global objectives for 2030 and set the framework for action that will achieve them. In her closing speech, Ms. Jean declared "The population of young people to which we think and we talked about throughout this forum, has never been so large in the history of mankind.

What can we offer them ? They ask themselves everyday. They express and express a sense of deadlock, impatience, disappointment and frustration.

I think and you too, all these young men and women who go up to meet death on misfortune boats that are prey to mafia, smugglers and traffickers who exploit in an assassinates manner their dream of a better life.

I think and you too, to all these young angry, in distress, which in their search for identity and belonging, are driven by other mobsters to commit the irreparable or be the victims in the name of an ideology of terror and hatred, an ideology of destruction and death that disconcerts us.

When will we realize that being desperate at this point in 12 years, 15 years, 20 years is against nature ?

Time is short.

We are in a true race against time. We must quickly restore to them their reason for hope. You heard them, you met them like me, otherwise we would not be here. We know the strength of their creativity. We understand their desire to get involved, to excel, to undertake. Do not leave to others the fatal project to exploit this tremendous energy to divert it. Let us take the lead. Transmit to the young generations the knowledge, skills, values which enable them to become architects of their lives and transform the world.

Education is a weapon of mass construction.

Investing in education means investing in global stability, s to invest in global prosperity.

Governments, donors, international organizations, companies need to invest in education.

We are all responsible, all accounting, of failures as successes.

We must all commit ourselves in an inclusive and participatory manner: civil society, young people themselves.

We have here in Incheon, and we will remember, at the invitation of UNESCO, set the course.

Now we need to share experiences and expertise, share best practices, both North and South, coordinate and rationalize actions, imagine partnerships and innovative financing, fostering synergies for greater efficiency, greater impact and concrete results.

Let's cooperate otherwise. The stake requires it. We must not forbid anything to us. It is in this sense that mobilizes and activates strategically Francophonie, bridge between 80 states and governments on five continents. Recognizing that each lost year puts lives in danger and the world at risk.

Mahatma Gandhi rightly said that the difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the problems of this world.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Dear friends,

Let's doing everything we can do. We owe it to these children, these young people. Do not wait, time is short."
