Thursday at Hotel Kinam of Petionville, the President Michel Martelly, participated at the 28th International Women's Day, to the official presentation of the Men-Women Equality Policy (EFH), and the National Action Plan EFH developed by the Ministry for Women's (MCFDF).

Through this Action Plan, the Ministry for the Status of Women and Women's Rights intends to promote :

  • An equal rights and equitable gender justice ;
  • A non-sexist education and egalitarian models ;
  • An access to sexual and reproductive health in the respect of the dignity of women ;
  • The elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls ;
  • An economic equality and equal access to employment gender ;
  • An equal participation of women and men in decision-making.

In the presence among others of Mrs. Yves Rose Myrtil Morquette, Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights, Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, the Minister of Public Health, the Ambassador of Canada in Port-au-Prince, Ms. Paula Saint-Onge, the Head of State began by welcomed the initiative and hoped that the EFH can become a real instrument for Development of Haiti "More the female gender is involved in the activities of a nation, the more it rises in the scale of responsibilities, better this nation is equipped to meet the challenges it faces," said President Martelly that believes that this approach of MCFDF allow the emergenc of a balanced society, democratic and without violence against women.

For her part, the Minister Yves Rose Myrtil Morquette, made an inventory of the situation of women both in Haiti and through several regions of the world. She highlighted the many difficulties faced by women in Haiti particularly in the health, political, socio-economic, cultural and civil. She took the opportunity to reiterate the commitment of his Ministry through this Action Plan in pursuing the goal of making men and women equal. She also appealed to other sectoral ministries, civil society organizations and donors, to take ownership of the policy of Women-Men Equal in Haiti.

A message that is far from being reflected in the candidates in the next election, where in the Senate are found 209 male candidates only 23 women candidates. At the deputation 1,495 men and 128 women, to the post of President of the country : 64 men candidates for 6 women candidates...
