Haiti - Agriculture : 1,3 million euros to improve food security
Thursday in Saint-Raphaël (North Departement), as part of the launch of the project "Improvement of food security through increased agricultural production for sale and own consumption", Frener Dorcin the Minister of Agriculture and Gabriel Frédéric, Coordinator programs of the "Agro-Action Allemande" (AAA - Welthungerhilfe) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for this project, funded to the tune of one million euros from the Federal Ministry for Development and the German Economic Cooperation and an additional 300,000 euros from AAA.

This project that is part of the development plan of the communal section of Sanyago (St-Raphaël), will wllow amog others : the development of irrigation infrastructure, the modernization of agricultural production through access to credit, the accompaniment through technical advice on the mechanical working of the soil, as wall as the valorization of agricultural products through processing and marketing. At the end of the project, 3,000 families will have their food security improved according to the Project Leader.

In addition, as part of this project, the AAA intends to strengthen the Municipal Agricultural Bureau (BAC) to better serve planters.
