The President Martelly under fire from opposition critics

Wednesday, July 15th in Saint-Louis du Nord, the President Martelly has been under criticism from several opposition leaders, who accused him in particular to use the goods of the State at his disposal to campaign in favor of candidates of his party PHTK.

Responding strongly to his detractors, the Head of State replied that nobody can stop him from campaigning for candidates of "Tet Kale" indicating that it is normal that a president travels with his security guards, recalling that President Obama campaigned for Democratic candidates "is done everywhere in all countries," saying he will support all candidates of PHTK

Maryse Narcisse brings her support to Lavalas candidates
This Saturday, in the department of Nippes, particularly in Anse-à-Veau/Arnaud Maryse Narcisse, the presidential candidate of the Lavalas Political Organization paid a solidarity visit and of support to the Senate candidate Cassy Nenel and all Lavalas deputies of the Department of Nippes.

Appeal of Cardinal Chibly Langlois

Cardinal Chibly Langlois, President of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti has appealed to the population in general and young people in particular to make informed choices in the parliamentary elections, senatorial, municipal and presidential planned for this year. Recalling that "Christians need a new society, Christian candidates who can help the people out of poverty [...] Many candidates who hear me now, I ask you, in case of victory at elections, to show you up to your responsibilities," inviting them to campaign in mutual respect and avoid throwing disparaging remarks and to the young people to engage at all levels to change the image of Haiti.

Financing of political parties... one day maybe...
While some leaders of political parties less fortunate, still waiting for the goodwill of the State for their grant to start their campaign (to 3 week before the election...) Vijonet Demero, the Secretary General of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has indicated that the grants to political parties could be paid this week indicating that political parties with the largest number of candidates will benefit from a more substantial grant, dding that other criteria such as the percentage of female candidates and candidates who have obtained a license will help to determine the amount allocated to each political party.

Following this statement we always wonder why the executive tries to justify the delay in payment of the subsidy to political parties by seeking an equitable basis, so that everything is already described in the Electoral Decree in its Articles 126, 92 and 92.1

Article 126 : "The amount of the grant to be awarded to parties and political groups concerned, depending on the number of approved candidates will be determined by the Provisional Electoral Council following the budget allocated for this purpose by the State."

Article 92 : "The political party or group whose fifty percent (50%) of accepted candidates have skills in various fields and an equivalent academic level at least to a license issued by a legally recognized university benefits from a reduction of thirty percent (30%) of the amount of the registration fee for the candidates concerned."

Article 92.1 : "The political party or group that registers 30% women enjoys a 40% discount on the registration fee.

The political party or group that registers 10% of people with disabilities, benefits from a 30% discount on the registration fee."
