Haiti - Social : Official ceremony for the commemoration of Bois-Caïman 22/08/2015 08:56:01 On this occasion the highest authorities of the country will be present to pay their respects to the brave heroes of this historic event, which symbolizes the starting point of freedom by slaves, which led to the consecration of the principle of equality between Men, recognized by the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen Slavery was the worst of society systems experienced by humanity. For having defied that hated and degrading system, for having sacrificed their lives for the respect of human dignity, our ancestors Boukman, Mackandal, Toussaint Louverture..., left us this land of Haiti, the universal symbol of commitment, as the vanguard of the struggle for freedom against all forms of racial discrimination. As part of the celebration of the 224th anniversary of this exhilarating and legendary act that resulted in the abolition of slavery, an official ceremony will be held, associated to a great cultural event during which the authorities of the country and historians will speak to magnify the symbolism of the Bois Caïman, on background of an animation of group Boukman Experyans and other artists of the Northern Department in particular. A development of the Bois Caïman site in a memorial of remembrance, as the Mecca of struggles for freedom and respect for human dignity, will also be launched by the Government on this occasion.
