Haiti - News : Electoral Zapping...
« Zokiki » attacks the President of the CEP
The Senate candidate (West), Jean Renel Senatus aka "Zokiki" under the banner LIDE, "attacked" the president of the CEP, Pierre Louis Opont, which has challenged the recommendation of BCED to proclaim him winner in the first round. He points out firstly that the President Opont is not authorized to make this recourse quoting in reference section 183 of the Electoral Decree, which states "The referral of disputes organs is done by request signed of the challenging candidate or its representative duly mandated [...]" and secondly, "the CEP can not be judge and party at the same time," noting that two electoral advisers sit on the BCEN which must rule on the appeal of President Opont. In addition, he recalled that the Secretary-General of the Bar, Stanley Gaston, who must appoint two lawyers for the composition of the tribunal, is himself a lawyer of CEP !

Political Opportunism...
The presidential candidates, Sauveur Pierre Etienne (OPL), Steven Benoit (Konviksyon) and Michel André (JISTIS), promise if elected to reverse the decision of President Martelly to create five new communes. They condemn the attitude of the head of state and called for calm, the populations of the areas concerned.

Words of Gustavo Gallon on the rejection of the candidacy of Jacky Lumarque
Tuesday, after his 4th mission to Haiti, Gustavo Gallon, United Nations Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in Haiti, the case of the eviction of the candidate for President Jacky Lumarque under the banner VERITE, caught his attention. He said during his press conference, "I respectfully would like to draw the attention of the Haitian authorities to the fact that no candidate can be excluded from the list without a strong argument. In this sense, in the case of Jacky Lumarque, the CEP could either make public the arguments on which it relies to exclude him from the rocess, either restore his name in the list of presidential candidates for the upcoming elections. This would be a solution in conformity with the right to vote and the right to be elected, whose Mr. Lumarque hold as a candidate, the political movement and the people who support his candidacy, as well as Haitian society as a whole since the rights to democracy and peace are at stake."

Me André Michel, promises demonstrations across the country
The JISTIS platform, announced that it will not attend Friday's meeting between the CEP and the political parties. Me André Michel, presidential candidate of JUSTIS said "this CEP is discredited and no longer has the moral authority to carry out free, fair and democratic elections in the country [...] The conditions are not met for there to be good elections in the country. We demand the resignation of members of the electoral council and teh creation of the necessary political conditions for holding good elections. This is our struggle [...] We will fight to the end. There will be demonstrations, not only in the capital but also in all cites of the country."
