Haiti - Social : The Haitian youth mobilized for the Peace Week
As part of the International Day of Peace (21 September), the United Nations launched in Cap Haitien, the Peace Week. At the initiative of the Office of Communication and Public Information of the Minustah, the United Nations have joined their partners of the Government and civil society to mobilize Haitian youth in the cities of Cap Haitien, Gonaives and Les Cayes, around a reflection on non-violence, living together and citizenship through a series of cultural, sports, environmental, education and creation activities.

According to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, "no group is more ready to realize this dream [Peace] that the youth of today. This is the largest young generation in history, better informed and better connected that none before her."

Largely realized in the city of Cap Haitien, the Peace Week will end with a free concert by the artist BélO, for whom "Peace is a question of general interest, which concerns us all." Indeed, as part of the workshop "Ann Ekri Lapè" realized by the Foundation Haiti Jazz, BélO Ralph Boncy and Joel Widmaier will work during the week with thirty young artists from vulnerable areas of the city capoise to create Peace texts set to music by musician Fabrice Rouzier "I do not believe that peace just concerns the State, the authorities or only artists; each of us has a part to play in establishing peace on Earth," believes the artist in a recorded message "This is why I, BélO, I engaged in this project to promote peace and create youth ambassadors who will do the same in turn."
