Haiti - Politic : Signing Week of the National Pact for Quality Education 20/10/2015 10:03:52 The "National Pact for Quality Education" which was read by a student of Philo of that Lycée, is a document https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15429-haiti-education-towards-a-national-pact-for-quality-education.html including 7 commitments to bring the presidential candidates to a better understanding in order to make better decisions oriented face the challenges, issues and priorities of the Haitian education system. From Monday, October 19, 2015, the Pact is open for signature by the various stakeholders. "I am pleased that my Government has been able to establish the National Office of Learning Partnership. Today, Haiti seal the pact of quality education, to break with two centuries of poverty and economic backwardness. Yes, we need to double our spending on education. The National Fund for Education (FNE) remains an urgent need to complete the free education efforts [...]" declared President Martelly before signing the Pact alongside the Minister of Education National Nesmy Manigat, front a packed audience comprising representatives of the educational community, political parties and civil society... In addition to the Head of State and the Prime Minister, the Head of Cabinet of the President, Anne Valerie Timothée, the presidential candidates, Aviol Fleurant (Nouvelle Haïti) and Jovenel Moïse (PHTK), the Catholic education sector, Paul Gomis of UNESCO, Ms Lourdes E. Joseph, of the National Confederation ofEducators of Haiti (CNEH) have signed the pact, just to name a few. President Martelly said he signed the Pact in the memory of the founding fathers of Haiti and on behalf of the Haitian youth and its future and expressed confidence that from the efforts made in recent years and with the "National Pact for Quality Education, [...] the path is traced to a new country worthy of its past and to meet the challenges of the future." Prime Minister Evans Paul declared "It is a State's duty towards the young, the access to quality education. It is also a duty of parents and society in general," wanting indicate that the efforts made by the State will be in vain without the involvement of parents. The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to announce two important decisions which should succeed this pact : to increase by 17% the amount allocated for education in the current national budget, 35% the next fiscal year; Spend 8% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to education, or to raise it from 4 to 8%.
