Haiti - Literature : Rodney Saint-Éloi new member of the Académie des lettres du Québec 10/11/2015 09:57:55 Rodney Saint-Éloi, author of a remarkable work [translated in English, Spanish and Japanese] for which he has received numerous awards and honors, is also deeply committed to the dissemination of literature as a translator and anthologist. He is also the founder in Montreal in 2003, of Éditions Mémoire d'encrier, which greatly helped to publicize writers from diverse backgrounds, including writers of Haiti and First Nations. "The Académie des lettres du Québec is pleased to recognize the essential contribution of Rodney Saint-Éloi to Quebec culture. Through his experience and the reach of his activities, he will participate in the mandate of the Academy to promote the language, culture and French literature here and in the Francophonie." Rodney Saint-Éloi is the author of ten books of poetry, including among others : "J’avais une ville d’eau, de terre et d’arc-en-ciel heureux" (1999), "J’ai un arbre dans ma pirogue" (2003), "Récitatif au pays des ombres" (2011), "Jacques Roche, je t’écris cette lettre" (2013), nominated for the prestigious literary prize of Governor General.
