Haiti - Reconstruction : Diaspora, a development fund of $100 million
The group of reflection and action for a new Haiti (GRAHN) announced Wednesday the creation of a Haitian Development Fund (FHD) for an initial amount of $100 million, allowing the Haitian diaspora to invest in the country's economic recovery. The announcement was made by Michel Julien, a board member of the group, during the launch of a book of 617 pages, containing 175 proposals, 150 recommendations and 25 projects for reconstruction and rebuilding of Haiti.

The activity was held at the University of Montreal in the presence, among other personalities, Ministers of Education Joel Desrosiers Jean Pierre, Haitians Abroad, Edwin Parison and Consul General of Haiti in Montreal Pierre Richard Casimir.

According to proponents, a modest contribution of $10 allows Haitians nationals from abroad or local to adhere to the fund which will be officially launched at the end of winter. The initiative. The initiative has the support of important partners such as "Solidarity Development International (SDI), the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)," said M. Julien.

For his part, Edwin Parison who arrived from Paris where he represented the government at the 7th "open house" of the Associations Franco-Haitian (PAFHA) stressed that the diaspora needs a "powerful ministry" to ensure coordination of a global movement inter-Haitian of strengthening of the State and capable of contributing to national development. The Minister urged the Diaspora to "avoid mistakes in policies toward Haiti by the international", by supporting a new paradigm in its relationship with the remainder of the nation. Parison defended the leadership must have the MHAVE, in the management of the diaspora file, indicating that the national and international situation has never been so favorable for achieving the objectives of this vital sector of national life.
