Haiti - Politic : Inauguration of members of the Committee against human trafficking
Tuesday at the National Palace, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Evans Paul and Ariel Henry, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour proceeded with the official inauguration of members of the National Committee for the fight against human trafficking.

In his speech the Head of State, in the presence among other of members of the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as personalities of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), Civil Society and the Diplomatic Corps declared "Human trafficking is at once an intolerable violation of human rights and an odious criminal offense. It is the third form of trafficking, the most widespread in the world, after drugs and arms trafficking. It is often associated with other crimes, such as forced labor and begging children https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15815-haiti-politic-fight-against-trafficking-of-restavek-in-haiti.html the smuggling of migrants, sexual exploitation, organ trafficking, is considered as a modern 'form of slavery'."

Recall that the President Martelly concerned to ensure the sustainability of the full enjoyment of fundamental rights with dignity published during his tenure the Law on the fight against human trafficking, followed by a decree forming the National Committee of fight against this scourge.

This Committee composed of 12 members is responsible for defining and implementing a national strategy to efficiently ensure a better prevention and a dissuasive punishment of crimes and offenses inherent to this alarming phenomenon.

President Martelly wished every success to the Committee in this endeavor of restoration of human dignity and encouraged them to engage with forcefully and effectively to that "in the coming years, the impunity still enjoyed sometimes by the perpetrators of this crime unsustainable definitely belong to the past."
