Haiti - Politic : Franco-Haitian cooperation in the aviation sector
DSNA Services, French operator specializing in the expertise of the Air and the National Office of Civil Aviation of Haiti (OFNAC) organized a thematic day on the importance of air transport in the economic development of Haiti.

This day that had been prepared in collaboration with the Haitian government and the Embassy of France, was part of the continuity of the visit of President Francois Hollande in Haiti, May 12, 2015, and the agreements signed on this occasion https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13858-haiti-politic-series-of-agreements-signed-with-france.html https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13849-haiti-politic-if-we-can-not-change-history-that-history-changes-us.html . It articulated around three great moments :

  • A breakfast Business to Karibe Hotel to enable Haitian and French companies to exchange ideas on partnerships and opportunities related to air transport in Haiti ;

  • A forum on the trades of aeronautics at the Karibe Hotel hosted by OFNAC and DSNA in interaction with sixty graduating students of Quisqueya University and the Faculty Of Science (FDS) to present all the opportunities and future opportunities in the sector of Aeronautics.

  • An official handover to the Haitian government, in a ceremony at the Residence of France, of documents contributing to the compliance of the Haitian Civil Aviation with international standards, namely: a bill and a code of civil aviation, and preliminary conclusions on the creation of a supervisory authority in Haiti. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of France in Haiti, Elisabeth Beton Delègue, representatives of the Haitian authorities, actors of air transport in the Caribbean area such as the Regional Director of the Organization of Aviation International Civil Organization (ICAO) and representatives of airports and and airlines but also French and Haitian companies of air and tourism sectors as well as several economic operators (IDB, World Bank, AFD, EU, Chamber of Commerce etc...)

Recall that in Haiti, DSNA accompanied the OFNAC since December 2013 in its modernization projects, in close coordination with ICAO. This cooperation covers both the legal and regulatory framework of the surveillance as air traffic control and training. The aims is to achieve the highest degree of compliance with international standards to enable the development of the aviation sector, a key sector in the development of economic activities and tourism of the country. As part of this partnership, DSNA wants to ensure that the OFNAC is ready to absorb air traffic on Haiti in four years, delay that France gives itself for building the Haitian civil aviation.
