Haiti - Tourism : Stéphanie B. Villedrouin officially pass the baton
Monday, Stéphanie Villedrouin the outgoing Minister of Tourism, in his last official speech, passed the baton to his successor Didier Hyppolite former Vice President of the Tourism Association of Haiti (ATH).

Welcome address of Stéphanie Villedrouin :

"I would like firstly to thank the former President of the Republic Michel Martelly for the opportunity he gave me to serve my country from October 2011 to date, allowing me to put all my knowledge, my my commitment and expertise at the service of tourism !

I also congratulate His Excellency Enex Jean-Charles, Prime Minister of the Republic and all the members of his cabinet who from today will be responsible for the smooth running of state affairs and we congratulate and wish the welcome to the new Minister of Tourism: Didier Hyppolite.

So welcome Mr Minister, you are at home here.

By giving you the trouble of through the door of this Ministry you understand that we wanted it to the dimension of hospitality and respect of the Haitian people for all those who take the time to accept responsibilities commensurate with its expectations.

You who in one way work already at the reception of our visitors as well in your professional activity in the commitments you have made to ATH, you will make of this important mission entrusted to you a simple extension of your work in the sector.

It was a pleasure to meet you upon confirmation of your appointment, and the exchanges we had, suggest to me that I just have to wish you the courage to keep at sector the privileged status of engine for economic growth, this is at this cost we have crossed the threshold of half a million visitors and that tourism now occupies the third position in our exports.

I can not continue my remarks without taking time to thank the team that worked tirelessly to revitalize the tourism ministry, namely the former Secretary of State Jessie Menos, the Director General Maryse Noël and all executives and staff of that Ministry, my Chief of staff and its members, to have understood and adopted a sector development Vision, which allowed Haiti is replaced on the international tourist map.

At the tourist private sector represented today by ATH, I am grateful for the support and fruitful exchanges during these five years, which allowed to place again your confidence in this country, through significant investments in key links in the tourism sector !

This vision that I mentioned has allowed us in the early days, to work for the creation and standardization of various links in the tourism chain allowing visitors a memorable and safe experience at our destination, from reception to the airport- the Transfers- accommodations- the developments of our natural and historical sites, through the formation of employees of sector to the promotion, leading to the hospitality of our people.

These achievements are listed in the document entitled Report on the 2011-2015 sector, available for everyone https://www.haitilibre.com/docs/MTIC_Bilan_2011-2015_web.pdf which recalls the steps that allowed us to move from words to deeds! Also in order to translate these gains into pillars of development for our sector, we have developed with the help of several specialists, the sector's development vision for 20 years from 2015 to 2035! My greatest wish is that this flame within the sector does not go out and that we achieve by 2035, the 2 million visitors and 30,000 hotel rooms, in a new concept of innovative development of the "all inclusive regional" enabling local communities to benefit directly of dollar of visitor-which inevitably reflects greater economic contribution nationally and gross domestic product with two numbers !

Your destination is within a region of the most dynamic of continent and today with the opening of Cuba to the US market, the competition will be of order, so we have no room for error. So Mr. Minister, I hope that the actions you will undertake during this transition, one side can consolidate the achievements of the sector and continue to do the acts necessary to achieve our 2035 goal !

I am proud today to pass you the reins of the Ministry of Tourism.

In this Government who starts, you definitely lead the race :

- This is what deserves the people of our provinces which, in the priority regions highlighted, are committed with confidence in our openness to the world;

- This is what deserves our diaspora that asks us to safeguard against all the rewarding pictures of our beautiful country;

- This is what deserves our designers, artisans and artists, domestic and foreign investors, tour operators and governing bodies of world tourism, all those who, with us, believe in the good fortune of our destination.

Pèp Ayisyen se te yon plezi, yon onè pou’m travay pou nou e sèvi peyi mwen, angajman pa mwen pou touris ka toujou tounen nan bel destinasyon nou an ap kontinye, paske AYITI, mwen pote’w nan ke mwen!
Mesi anpil !"
