Haiti - FLASH : Torrential rain, 4 deaths and thousands of affected families (UPDATE 26-04-2016)
The torrential rains that fell on Port-au-Prince and several provincial cities in the night from Saturday to Sunday did 4 dead of the same family (one adult 41 years and 3 children aged 8, 6 and 2 years), in Carrefour-Feuilles, following a landslide that caused the collapse of their house at #64 in Miron, Tunnel prolonged.

In addition, floods have caused significant damage at Martissant and Cité Soleil, specifically in Sarthe, Ti Haïti, Soleil 6, soleil 26, Lintho 1, Projet Drouillard.
In addition to Cabaret, the overflow of dry gullies caused damage to Source matelas, Sabourin, Kafou Damien, 1st section la Redoute, while other parts of the department were also affected at lower levels by the rains that have long fallen in various parts of the country.

Sunday, a provisional assessment of the Directorate of Civil Protection, reported 112 affected families in Port-au-Prince, 2,500 in Cite Soleil and 1,800 in Cabaret. A total of 4,612 homes were invaded by silt and other waste washed away by runoff water on all of these three communes.

Of brigadiers of the Civil Protection were deployed during the night from Saturday to Sunday for timely interventions and assistance to firefighters in some interventions including in Carrefour-Feuilles whereas at Cabaret shovels and wheelbarrows were distributed to local families of Sabourin to facilitate cleaning houses. Public works began to clean certain streets of the capital.

Faced with this situation, departmental, municipal and local structures of civil protection recalled the instructions in the risk areas in case of flooding, landslides and mudslides, "If your house is in a risk zone, if you are near a ravine of a river or a beach, take your provisions to go into a home or a place that is not at risk of flooding."

Weather conditions remain favorable for more rain until Tuesday, April 26 according to the notice issued by the National Meteorological Centre (CNM)

The Ministry of the Interior, while calling on the population to be vigilant, present its deep and sincere sympathies to the families and relatives of the victims.

UPDATE 26-04-2016 :

According to the latest information provided by the Civil Protection Directorate "The heavy rains recorded in the West department, in the night from Saturday to Sunday, has killed 6 people and wounded 6 others in Port-au-Prince and Delmas.

Four members of the same family were killed and two were injured in the collapse of their homes after a landslide occurred in Carrefour-Feuilles (Port-au-Prince). Two other people, including a girl of 7 years, were killed and four others were injured in Delmas in the fall of a wall that destroyed their house. A baby is among the wounded."
