Haiti - Elections : 3 CEP advisers in Dominican Republic
Léopold Berlanger, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) accompanied by his vice president, Carlos Hercule and the Secretary General, Marie-Frantz Joachim will be in the Dominican Republic to observe the general elections to be held Sunday, May 15, 2016.

According to Nicole Siméon, Spokesperson of the CEP, the mission aims to observe the progress in electoral matters made by the neighboring country that experiments the electronic voting in these elections. The CEP advisers will have ample opportunity to see how the Dominican opposition, equally imaginative and anti-progress as ours, opposed to a 100% electronic voting.

Indeed Thursday evening Roberto Rosario Márquez, President of the Central Electoral Commission announced that the vote count will be electronic but also manual and that for the 3 levels of elections. This ultimate concession made to the Dominican opposition will therefore prevent the publication of the results shortly after the closing of polling stations as promised to the population, given the time and the logistics associated with manual counting operation...

In Haiti, the CEP has not yet set a date for the second round of elections, a date that should be known before the end of May at the latest...
