Haiti - FLASH : Jocelerme Privert talks about the possible end of his term
Thursday, the President a.i. of the Republic Jocelerme Privert before leaving for Cuba to participate in the Seventh Summit of Heads of State and / or Government of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), urged political actors for the "country walks towards elections that will allow that by January 2017 there has legitimate authorities [...] that can ensure the constitutional normality essential to stability, investment promotion [...]"

Regarding the date of June 14, of the end of his term he declared "the agreement https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16533-haiti-politic-the-details-of-the-agreement-from-a-to-z.html which was initialed on February 5 said that the mandate of the temporary President has a maximum of 120 days," stating on whether he will remain in power or not after this date that "the National Assembly will take the decisions that are necessary, the National Assembly is the meeting of the two chambers in joint session. The future of Jocelerme Privert is not related to a provisional term, it's been almost 40 years that I serve my country and till today I continue to serve it, I will continue to serve, no matter the level where I would be.

By con on June 14 it will effectively 120 days... but the agreement had an objective, that is the organization of elections that should have taken place on 24 April, of circumstances beyond the will of the President and the Prime Minister and even the actors who signed the agreement have prevented that these elections take place on April 24 as scheduled.

The Provisional Electoral Council made it clear it needs between 90 and 120 days after the publication of the electoral timetable [to be published June 6] to achieve the elections.

My mandate is to organize elections, until today all the acts I pose tend towards the necessary conditions for achieving the said elections.

On June 14 if the National Assembly decides that I have to leave I will leave without qualms, without regrets and I will continue to serve Haiti, if the National Assembly decides that I stay, I will stay to fulfill the mandate given to me to organize elections which unfortunately could not be held on time.

The agreement is still valid, some dates of the agreement have not been met and we will continue to implement the agreement until the installation of a new elected President and generally any authorities that are seeking a popular mandate [...]"
