Haiti - Politic : The extension of the mandate of Privert divides Senate 07/06/2016 11:30:02
In the lower house "it appears" to emerge "a some weak trend" in favor of the extension of the presidential mandate of President a.i. Privert, at least within the G33, the "Parliamentary Group at the Listening of People" (GPEP) and the G11 "Independent Parliamentary Group" (GPI), while within the G48 "Parliamentary Alliance for Haiti" (APH), the majority group in the Lower House, the issue continues to divide. Meanwhile in the Senate, Majority and Minority Group are sharply divided on the question of the extension or not of mandate of the acting President. Pro-Privert Senators advocate the continuation of the mandate of Privert until the election of his successor, while the opposition group calls for the replacement of the temporary President, after June 14, by the President of the Court of Cassation or by the Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles. Without a compromise between the two political groups, the risk of invalidating the quorum at a convocation of the General Assembly is a reality that can not be underestimated and that absolutely must find a solution very quickly, to 7 days of the end of the mandate of Privert...
