Saturday, less than a week after the elimination of the Grenadiers from the Copa America Centenario https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17719-haiti-sports-3rd-defeat-of-grenadiers-haiti-eliminated.html Abel Nazaire the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, met Yves Jean-Bart aka "Dadou", the President of the Haitian Football Federation (FHF), to discuss the real reasons that prevent the Haitian football to achieve a higher level of professionalism like the other foreign teams and think about the steps to be taken to ensure a better future for our football.
Despite the rules of the International Football Federation (FIFA), which limit government intervention in the football environment, the Minister Nazaire wants to organize a forum that will bring together the different actors involved in this sector convinced that a cooperation framework should be established between the Ministry and the Federation to streamline and strengthen football in Haiti to achieve better results in the upcoming international events.
During the discussions, several points were selected to establish a framework for cooperation including :
- The establishment of sports Academies promoting youth training across the country ;
- The making available to the FHF of technicians MJSAC ;
- The search for an agreement with the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) to provide football clubs medical supervision for the benefit of players ;
- The provision of sports equipment to the various bodies of national football ;
- An allowance to the players of the national team ;
- The involvement of former players in the football affairs ;
- The organization of a working session between the MJSAC, representatives of the FHF and club leaders to determine the best strategy to strengthen football in the country.
The Minister pleased with this fruitful meeting and announced that he would meet other actors of the Haitian football world to identify weaknesses in the sector and work on its recovery.
