Haiti - Politic : Haiti at the XIV UNCTAD ministerial session (Kenya) 24/07/2016 09:11:14 Organised every four years years, exchanges were designed to determine how trade, investment, finance and technology still could better address the need for sustainable and inclusive development and what can be the contribution of UNCTAD to the implementation of Agenda 2030. Member of UNCTAD, Haiti, which targets the emerging country status by 2030, participated in this Conference with an important government delegation led by Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning accompanied her colleague Jessy C. Petit-Frère, Minister of Trade and Industry. In his opening speech the Minister Fleurant suggested the development of a global economic environment in solidarity in the interests of future generations. Highlighting the Haitian products intended for international trade, he has sought the assistance of UNCTAD to reduce poverty caused mainly by too unfair trade liberalization. While encouraging the promotion of entrepreneurship and public / private partnership, he also solicited the support of members of the Conference to the strengthening of Haiti producing capabilities to be more effective in the exploitation of its mineral resources and the protection of its environment in order to prepare for the effects of climate change.
