Haiti - Social: International Youth Day 12/08/2016 10:37:48 At the launch of this day, the emphasis was placed by several speakers including on : the development potential and economic growth of young people [57% of the population is under 24 years in Haiti] ; the need to draw attention to young people most affected by inequities ; youth engagement in promoting the culture of peace and human rights ; and the riority of working with and for young people in all their programs. For his part Abel Nazaire, Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, recalled that this day is an opportunity offered to the world to reflect on the situation of young people. He also lamented that political instability experienced by country since the last two decades has been a major constraint to the development of young and did not ensure sustainable investment to generate stable jobs that strengthen the national economy. The de facto President Privert at the launch, addressing youth declared You are called to be the leaders of tomorrow and take great responsibility. I encourage you to redouble efforts by being serious and working constantly for excellence; because from our choices today will depend the future of Haiti of tomorrow." He also called on all Haitians to continue to walk on the path of peace and stability in order to create favorable conditions to attract domestic and international investment needed for the education of young explaining "To fight against poverty, malnutrition, insecurity, environmental degradation, scourges that are facing the youth, the country needs investment that requires a macroeconomic framework that depends on the promotion of peace and stability."
