Haiti - Elections : The CEP will receive more than $20 million in full opacity
While the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) seems still unable to present to the public the details of the budget of $55 million for the upcoming elections and whose last promised presentation scheduled for last Tuesday, by Léopold Berlanger has not been followed, the Government is preparing to transfer $21 million to the CEP, 11 million this week, and 10 million at the beginning of September.

According to the treasurer of the Electoral Council, this amount does not mean that it is the total cost of the first round. Anyway in the absence of detail, the CEP as the Government can say what they want about those $21 million...

Daly Valet, the Adviser to the President de facto Privert responsible for Electoral Affairs confirmed having received two requests of the CEP for these amounts, stating that "The Ministry of Finance will execute them." Moreover he reiterated that there is no reason why the elections on October 9 did not take place. He says the Presidency identified the funds that they will be made available when needed and that the electoral timetable will be respected.
