Haiti - Religion : Episcopal Ordination of new Auxiliary Bishop of Port-au-Prince 28/08/2016 08:56:04 The former Archbishop of Cap-Haitien, Bishop Louis N. Kébreau, was the principal consecrating of the ceremony. He was accompanied by Mgr Kenel Alphonse and the Metropolitan Archbishop of Port-au-Prince, Bishop Guire Poulard. In his sermon of fidelity, according to the sacred canons of the Church, the new Bishop who was also accompanied by two Deacons, Grégoire Laguerre and Dickenson Moïse, promised, among other things, to work on the construction of the body of Christ and to remain in its unity; to welcome in the house of the Lord the poor and all those in need and fill flawlessly its mission within the Church "Together we will continue the mission entrusted to us by the Lord," concluded Mgr Ducange Sylvain. Learn more about Mgr Sylvain Ducange : Born April 5, 1963 in Port-au-Prince, Mgr Ducange Sylvain joined the Salesian novitiate of Jarabacoa (Dominican Republic), in 1985; he made his perpetual vows in 1992 in Brussels and was ordained a priest July 8, 1995 in Port-au-Prince. After being Director of the school "Saint Vincent Foundation" in Cap-Haitien (1989-1991) and of the work of Carrefour-Thorland (1998-2004), he was Director and Treasurer in Petion-ville (2004-2010). Member of the Society of St. Francis de Sales and former Superior of the Vice Province Salesian "Blessed Philip Rinaldi" of Haiti from 2010 to 2016, Mgr Ducange Sylvain is also today appointed Titular Bishop of Nova (Dioecesis Novensis).
