Haiti - Reconstruction : Rehabilitation of the School Carius Lhérisson in Port-au-Prince 06/12/2010 15:37:01 The school was reopened to children in April 2010 after clearing the rubble, and this despite the fragile infrastructure. To date, children continue their classes under tents set up near the school in order to not suffer from the noise and site hazards. Carius Lhérisson School is a public school that receives and free for children from 5 to 16 years the day and adult in evening classes. It is located in the particularly poor neighborhood of Fontamara - Martissant in Port-au-Prince where NGO Première Urgence concentrated its aid through programs of distribution of food and hygiene products hygiene, shelter construction, management of IDP camps, water and sanitation and the fight against cholera. This rehabilitation project will consolidate the existing structure, rebuild classrooms destroyed, to rebuild parts of sanitaries and canteen so that children can be accommodated from February 2011 in the best possible conditions. To carry out this project, a team of expatriates is hard at work since January 2010, expertises were conducted on buildings, Haitian businesses were selected to carry out the work and administrative permissions have been obtained Haitian . Thanks to the support of the weekly Paris Match and its readers, the Air France Foundation, the Fondation de France, Generali and Lagardère Entertainment, that Première Urgence has been meet the budget of 300,000 euros needed to complete this project.
