Haiti - FLASH : Jean Joseph Reynold World Champion of kyokushinkai
The Minister Abel Nazaire, Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, learned that during the 12th Mas Oyama Memorial Cup Japan 2016 organized on 17 September by the International Karate Organisation Kyokushin-Kan Sosai Oyama, our compatriot, the karateka, Reynold Jean Joseph won the title of world champion in the men's Open category of Kyokushinkai (full contact karate), which put in competition karatekas from 24 countries.

Also in this international competition, two Haitian karatekas Darline Jean Marie (Gold Medal in 2015 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15519-haiti-sports-darline-jean-marie-gold-medalist-at-united-world-karate-1st-world-championship.html ) and Sundiata Samara Gaston, are respectively 2nd and 3rd worldwide in Women's Open in the category 50-63 kg.

The Minister Nazaire welcomes the contrinution of his ministry to the participation of this delegation to this international competition and stresses that Jean Reynold Joseph, is part of this category of citizens that the Ministry wants to introduce as models to youth of Haiti "The Minister presents its warmest congratulations to the world champion Jean Reynold Joseph, to Darline Jean Marie and to Sundiata Samara Gaston."

Unlike other styles of karate, the kyokushin generally does not permit the wearing of protection in combat. The blows are worn with maximum force. It is not permissible to strike with the hands in the head of the opponent, however the kicks and knee are allowed and some are of great power. This style of karate was founded by Master Choi Yeoung-eui, which gave it the name of kyokushinkai, which in Japanese means "school of the ultimate truth".
