Haiti - Elections : Assassination attempt against Deputy Delva
Friday, the deputy Gracia Delva (Marchand-Dessalines), candidate for Senator of the Artibonite under the banner of "Ayiti An Aksyon" (AAA) campaigning for the elections on 9 October, has been victim of an assassination attempt.

It is returning from a meeting on the Louverture street of the city of St. Marc with Senator of the Artibonite, Carl Murat Cantave, that two men on a motorcycle opened fire on Gracia Delva, according to his testimony, before fleeing.

Having avoided luckily the murderous bullets, slightly wounded Delvas had to go to the emergency of Pierre Payen hospital for treatment. Two more of his supporters were also injured in the attack.

In the evening Gracia Delva, had left the hospital to return home in Marchand Dessalines. He says not being able to identify the perpetrators of the shooting and not pointing the finger. In addition, he said he had not received threats before the attack.

The Deputy Delva had to change his schedule in order to rest, on request of the doctors. However, he says he will not be intimidated and that he will continue his campaign until the elections.
