Haiti - Politic : High-level meeting on Haitian repatriations
Friday at the National Palace was held a high-level meeting between President de facto Jocelerme Privert, the main actors of the State: the National Migration Office (ONM), the National Identification Office (ONI), the National Commission for the Fight against Human Trafficking (CNLTP), the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST) and international bodies : the the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the US Embassy and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) around the Haitian migrant repatriation process.

The Head of State has shown very concerned about the threat of mass deportations weighing on thousands of compatriots iin an irregular situation in foreign countries. In addition, he says to be ready to mobilize all relevant national institutions as well as financial and material resources needed to receive our compatriots with respect and dignity. Jonas Cofy, General Director of MAST, President of the Commission announced that he would conduct an awareness campaign to discourage our people to venture in clandestine trips, in which they are risking their lives. Moreover, key players are committed to take all measures to facilitate their reintegration into society, to identify and work to dismantling networks of smugglers and traffickers of human beings.
