Haiti - FLASH : The bridge Ladigue collapses - Situation West - PAP
Matthew to 1 p.m.
Currently the center of the hurricane Matthew is located at 168km West of Gonaïves, 65km south of Cuba, and moving North at 17 km/h, it still represent a danger to Haiti, especially for the departments of West, Artibonite, North West and the North. Winds are 230km/h. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 95 km from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 295 km.

The National Meteorological Centre (CNM) of Haiti indicates that this disturbance is still carrier of strong to extreme torrential rain (375-625 mm). Therefore, the risk of severe flooding accompanied by mudslides and case of coastal flooding remain evident across the country with a higher intensity for coastal regions.

The hurricane Matthew begins to seriously affected the departments of Artibonite, North, Northwest and Central Plateau.

Situation in the metropolitan area - West :

At Port-au-Prince, after a certain lull winds resumed and the rain intensifies

The population of the municipality of Ganthier lauchs an appeals because of the water coming.

At Carrefour there are heavy rains accompanied by gales.

Laboule road was closed because of falling trees causing a traffic jam.

In Gressier, a local official says 80% of agricultural plots of a communal section are totally destroyed.

Huge wind gusts were felt in Petionville that throw trees damaging houses.

The river Grise is in flood and threatens to leave its banks and flood the Cul de Sac Plain, including vulnerable communes of Damien, Tabarre, Cite Soleil and every neighborhood from Cazeau to Marin.

The bridge of Croix-des-Missions was closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic following the flooding of the river Grise.

Strong winds and torrential rains hit Petit-Goâve. Trees have fallen to downtown. The damage could be substantial... It is impossible to move in Petit-Goâve. Situation in Port-au-Prince :

Here is the overall situation for a total of 9 functional temporary shelters in the commune:

Between 1500 to 2000 displaced people so far.

Lycée Fritz Pierre Louis about 200 people received. Orphanage located in the area of wharf Jérémie: a total of 123 displaced children including 17 with disabilities.

In the coastal area, Cite de Dieu, cité Plus, Village Michel, Martissant etc. Approximately 500 displaced families so far. No loss of lives recorded to date.

No flood warning recorded so far.
