Haiti - Security : Partial lifting of cabotage restrictions
Thursday in a press conference, Eric Prévost Junior Director General of the Maritime Service and Navigation of Haiti (SEMANAH) expressed his solidarity with all the artisanal fishermen that were affected by Hurricane Matthew "[. ..] I extend my sympathies to all fishers who have been victims of this hurricane. We learned that the violent waves have damaged several of their boats. Despite the fact that it is only a partial balance sheet, SEMANAH wants thay know that it is with them. In addition, the maritime sector has been severely affected by the destruction of some wharfs."

Eric Prévost Junior announced "[...] the partial lifting of cabotage activities on the circuit La Gonâve / Montrouis. However due to strong waves who still exist in in the Great South and the Great North, the lifting of ban will be gradual. By next week the prohibition measures will be lifted in their entirety and throughout the national territory."

He also presented a report of the damaged or destroyed flagship "[...] we can not forget to inform the navigators that several flagship have been either damaged or destroyed entirely. Include among others those of Dame-Marie, Tiburon and Port-Salut and in the Northwest Department, West Turtle lighthouse and the Turtle East have been damaged [...] our technicians will do their best to repair them in the shortest possible time. Meanwhile, we urge navigators to be vigilant."
