Towards a new date for elections
On Monday, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) met with key political actors. On Tuesday, the CEP met with the observation organizations, civil society around a new date for elections. For now, no new date has been chosen, even if the political parties advocate for October 30. However, the CEP "For October 30 is a reality for the organization of elections, there must be a consensus between the CEP, the Government, international partners involved in the electoral process and the political actors," announcing that the date which had to be initially communicated on Wednesday should be this Friday.

Prime Minister concerned
Tuesday, Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles, organized an important working meeting on the rehabilitation of school and health facilities after the passage opf Matthew. He expressed concern about the current situation of the country, hence the need to intervene quickly in the affected areas. The points "methodology to be followed for the implementation of the program and methodology for awarding contracts" were at the order of the day. Directors and representatives of various State institutions including the FAES, the CINGS, MENFP, the MSPP, the BMPAD the UCLBP and EPPLS, responded to this emergency appeal to help the people affected.

The OAS supports the postponement of the elections
The Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS-EOM) in Haiti wishes to express its deepest sympathy to all the victims and families affected by the recent passage of Hurricane Matthew. The mission also supports the decision of the Provisional Electoral Committee (CEP) to postpone to a later date the vote that was scheduled October 9, 2016.

Prime Minister is concerned about the cholera
Tuesday, during the second press conference chaired by Marc Aurèle Garcia, the Minister of Communication and Culture and the Dr Daphnée Benoît Delsoine, the Minister of Public Health, accompanied by her technical staff provided an update on the actions taken by the government to cope with the cholera epidemic in disaster areas after the hurricane.

Education, actions post-Matthew
Tuesday, Jean Beauvois Dorsonne, the Minister of National Education, held a meeting with the Education Sectorial Group, around the post-Matthew actions for the resumption of school activities, to activate the process of rehabilitation of school infrastructure and establish a good coordination. The Minister praised the partners for their willingness of commitment and support to the education sector. On this occasion took place the establishment of an intersectoral working group for the proper coordination of actions on the ground.

Reception of Japan donations
