Haiti - Environment : Signature of a protocol between UEH and DINEPA
Fritz Deshommes, Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH) and Bénito Dumay, Director General of the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Water and Sanitation.

This ten-year renewable agreement aims, among other things, to promote dialogue and exchanges between the academic world and society, to carry out studies and research in order to develop local expertise capable of proposing and to accompany the adaptation of technologies to local context, the transfer of knowledge through training activities and the systematization of results contributing to the development of the Water and Sanitation sector and a mutual support in the development of this sector.

Apart from the specific responsibilities of each, the two institutions jointly undertake, inter alia to:

  • Participate in the definition, on a periodic basis, of the specific activities of the agreement as well as strategies for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of these activities ;
  • Search for new funds for the financing of studies in Drinking Water and Sanitation ;
  • Seek new partners for development of partnership ;
  • Establish inter-institutional mechanisms to contribute to the development of joint actions for the establishment of Water Trades.

6 entities of the UEH will be involved in various aspects of this agreement: the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine; The Faculty of Science (FDS); The Faculty of Human Sciences (FASCH); The Faculty of Ethnology (FE); The Faculty of Law and Economics (FDSE) and the National Institute of Administration, Management and International Studies (INAGHEI).
