Haiti - NOTICE : Application for university scholarships HELP
The Haitian Education & Leadership Program (HELP) informs Philo students and bachelors in particular that admission forms are available at its office located at # 4, Rue 5, Pacot, Port-au-Prince (Zone College St Francis of Assisi). Deadline for filing applications on 30 April 2017 at 4h00 p.m.

HELP's mission is to train, through its scholarships, based on merit and need, a community of young professionals and leaders who will promote a more equitable Haitian society. Since 1997, HELP has offered scholarships to young, academically deserving students from disadvantaged stata of society who are unable to enter university. These scholarships are offered at the level of the bachelor's degree in Haitian universities recognized by the Ministry of National Education (MENFP), the Rectorate of UEH and affiliated to the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF). Currently, HELP scholars attend universities and faculties of the following universities: Haiti State University, Center for Planning and Applied Economics (CTPEA), Quisqueya University (UNIQ), Higher Institute of Infotronics of Haiti ( ESIH), University of Notre Dame of Haiti (UNDH).

HELP scholars receive the following support: payment of university tuition fees, loan of books required for their courses, access to their computer lab with Internet access, common housing, monthly financial allowance for food and transport, courses in English, Computer Science and Leadership, accompanying to the production of the dissertation, psycho-social supervision and placement and career services.

Information and required requirements :

  • Scholars are chosen on the basis of the following two criteria: academic excellence (merit) and low financial means (need).
  • To ensure the continuity of the program and give the same opportunity to the largest number of students, scholars are required to contribute 15% of their income (15 gourdes out of every 100 gourdes earned) during a period of nine (9) years as soon as they started working.
  • HELP does not fund medical studies or those at the master's level.
  • Participation in HELP activities during the orientation period and throughout the academic year is compulsory from Monday to Saturday.

Minimum eligibility requirements :

  • HELP receives candidates currently in philo and those who have already passed the baccalauréat. However, those currently in Philo can forward their form before the final results of their school and those of the baccalaureate. To be eligible and receive a form, all applicants must total a weighted average of 7.5/10 minimum from the 9th fundamental year to the Rheto. But if the postulant has already completed the class of Philo, the general average of the class of philo will be taken into account.
  • All applicants must be 22 years of age at the time of application.

Admission Procedures :

Step 1: Go to the HELP office (or a representative of HELP) with its note record from the 9th fundamental year to the Philo accounting for the overall average of 7.5/10 minimum.

Step 2: The first step verified, the candidate will receive an admission form and will have to return it with all the required documents.
