Haiti - Politic: Message of Privert at the 7th anniversary of the earthquake 14/01/2017 09:05:32 Excerpts from the message of Jocelerme Privert : "Dear friends, dear fellow citizens, grieving families, 'Yes, I return to his temple to worship the Eternal,' said the French playwright Jean Racine to introduce one of his greatest classical works. To the collective memory of all the victims of the drama of 12 January 2010, I repeat 'Yes, I have just returned from Morne St Christophe honoring our compatriots and friends of the international community who disappeared during the violent earthquake of 12 January 2010.' January 12 will always be engraved in our collective memory. In addition to the symbolic gesture of laying wreaths to honor the memory of our officials, our policemen, our compatriots and friends of the international community, who have left us, it is also an opportunity for us to demonstrate our solidarity with thousands of others who still suffer in their heart and in their flesh of this drama. But it is also an opportunity to take time to recollect, to remember what happened, to remember deceased loved ones or people with disabilities. It has become a habit, a duty almost a resourcing. Each one of us mourns his dead, his missing. Some still have the reflex to touch a part of their body bruised before this fateful day ! However, limiting ourselves only to this renewed mourning is certainly necessary as action, but it is not sufficient. It keeps us in an attitude of helpless victims faced with dramas to which our Nation is and will be continually exposed. The Presidential Order which has just been read by the Master of Ceremonies https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16295-haiti-social-january-12-declared-day-of-commemoration-and-reflection.html ntends to create a new framework and invite to a new position in relation to natural hazards. We will never forget our dead and especially those of January 12th. However, even on a smaller scale, years after years, cataclysms, cyclones, hurricanes shattered our social fabric, bruised our families and made it unlikely to take off economically ! We need to raise awareness our people and especially our youth, prepare our executives and technicians, and finally prepare public policies translated into our national budgets and deconcentrated to face these sad realities that are better managed everywhere around us in the region. Every 12th of January, day of meditation will also be a national day of reflection and awareness on the risks and natural disasters and the need to prepare ourselves for the inevitable in every hurricane season, every earthquake or even fire !
