Haiti - Politics : Who is the new Minister of Defense ? 29/03/2017 10:18:46 He began his career in the civil service in 1969 as an auditor at the Superior Court of Auditors. He was then promoted to Deputy General Inspector of Mixed and State Enterprises, and appointed in 1976 Vice-Consul of Haiti in Montreal. During his diplomatic career (for 18 years) he was Ambassador Rover, Ambassador Consultant, Ambassador to the Common Market and at the United Nations Office in Geneva; Ambassador of Haiti to the Dominican Republic, Ambassador of Haiti to Canada, Minister Counselor in West Germany and Special Advisor in Chile. In 1985, he was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, a short-term mandate. In addition to his experience in public administration and diplomacy, Hervé Denis is also an expert in plastic recycling for having worked a long time in this sector in Canada (President of Plastic Deba Inc., then consultant for RPM Inc., an affiliate of Groupe Métivier Established in St-Damien, Quebec) Since 1992, he has joined the Haitian business sector in the fields of import-export and hotel and tourism management and lives between Canada and Haiti. He was elected advisor to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (CCIH) for more than 9 consecutive years and became its President (2010-2012); He is also co-founder and former President of the Haitian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIHC); He is a shareholder and consultant of the Hotel Visa Lodge belonging to the MAC S.A. Group, of CAB. S.A., of Gonâve 2000 S.A. and Gestion Avenir S.A. During his career Hervé Denis was decorated with the National Order of Honor and Merit of Haiti, the Order of Malta and the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. He is an active member of Rotary International and chairs the Salvation Army Advisory Committee. He is married and the father of two children, in addition to an adopted child. HL/ HaitiLibre
