Haiti - Elections : INITE think win at the first or second round
Pending the publication of the verification report of the first round, by the experts of the Organization of American States (OAS), Pascal Nard Denis, one of the responsible of the electoral campaign INITE, said at the early of this week that the platform INITE of the candidate Jude Célestin will respect the conclusions of the OAS, confident that INITE will go to the second round of presidential elections if it does not win to the first round...

He indicated that the platform INITE remains open to dialogue with all other candidates including those of the Group of 12, which advocates the cancellation of elections, in order of find a solution to the Haitian crisis after the elections...

Regarding the call for departure of President René Préval and his replacement by a provisional government, launched by several political sectors, Pascal Nard-Denis, says that "even if in a democracy, we are free to express themselves we must respect the constitution"

Referring to the statements of Mirlande Manigat, who qualified Tuesday of unconstitutional any possible maintain to power until May 14th the Head of State, Recalling that only the date of February 7, is provided in the Haitian constitution for the beginning and the end of the mandate of an elected President. Pascal-Nard Denis recalled that "is the mother law which sets the presidential term to 5 years" and also remember that "this is the May 14, 2006 that President Préval was invested as President for 5 years."

Moreover, Pascal Nard-Denis has strongly criticized Edmond Mulet, the civilian head of the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minustah), which he accuses of trying to hijack votes from the candidate Jude Célestin. Indicating that more than 1,000 minutes have been hijacked from the Tabulation Center and the OAS would have made the observation "It's Mulet, himself who went to the Tabulation Center for ordering the quarantine of the minutes, the result is that today our candidate must participate in a second round".

It remains to be seen whether the quarantine of these minutes, beyond these statements of partisan politics, and charges against the head of the Minustah, were not justified by reasons other than "a conspiracy against Célestin" for example: the irregularities or frauds...
