Haiti - Commemoration : Bishop Thomas Wenski call to the prayer and solidarity

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has appealed to the faithful to accompany the first anniversary of the earthquake that struck Haiti January 12, 2010, with prayers and reflections.

Bishop Thomas Wenski, the Archbishop of Miami and president of the Ad Hoc Committee said that Haitians have "still needs a lot of our prayers and solidarity [...] as we approach the anniversary of the earthquake, we ask to the parishes, Catholic schools, youth groups and universities across the country to remember the tragic events of that fateful day and respond through our faith."

Catholic bishops invited to pray the novena of the "Virgin of Guadeloupe, "which begins the January 12 to conclude the weekend of January 22-23. A national fundraiser in America, will be conducted to help Haiti.
