Haiti - January 12, 2010 : Main events program 11/01/2011 13:39:15 8:00 am: A mass will be celebrated on the esplanade of the Cathedral. Throughout the day, religious activities of the Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Conference, the Protestant churches will be held. Voodoo sector activities will be held at the office of Ethnology. 10:00 am: A ceremony of laying the first stone of the future monument of remembrance will be held on the site of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI), completely destroyed by the earthquake, where many officials are dead. 11:00 am: Launch of the housing project at Fort National. Several other projects will be announced during the day (laying of the first stone of City Hall of Port-au-Prince, social housing in Port-au-Prince, etc. ..) 2:00 pm: On the Champ de Mars, the evangelical churches will hold a religious ceremony in memory of the victims. 3:30 pm. The Executive Council of the State University of Haiti (CE / UEH), to honor the memory of members of the university community who died during the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010, organized a ceremony of homage to the victims. The Faculty of Applied Linguistics UEH on the street Dufort, was symbolically chosen to host this event which will end around 6:00 pm. 4:00 pm: Marjorie Michel, Minister for Women and Women's Rights, will pay homage to women victims of the earthquake in front of the Ministry for Women (Magny Avenue). 4:53 pm: A minute of silence throughout the territory and the Haitian diaspora will be observed. It was at this precise time the quake struck Haiti. It will be followed by a last post (sonnerie aux morts) throughout the national territory and released of white balloons in the different areas that were affected by the earthquake. 6:00 pm: An activity entitled "Celebration of Life" (célébration de la vie) will be held in various municipalities affected by the earthquake activity of hope for the future. Beyond the many activities taking place in Haiti, mostly in areas affected by the earthquake a national disaster awareness will be launched the January 15 until January 30, 2011. This campaign will include among other things, a conference tour that will allow the public to see how other countries have managed to rebuild successfully.
