Haiti - Sports : Launch of renovation works of the Olympic swimming pool 08/05/2017 09:53:11
It should be remembered that it is the only Olympic swimming pool in Haiti, built in the 1980s (the first Caribbean country to be endowed at the time with an Olympic basin) had become dysfunctional and abandoned after the fall of the Duvalier regime for lack of maintenance and of repairs. During the ceremony, Dr. Evenel Mervilus, President of the FHSA welcomed the commitment of Minister Lamur to develop the swimming sector and the renovation of the Olympic swimming pool for the benefit of several thousand young people. Dr Hans Larsen, President of the Haitian Olympic Committee (COH), Dr Abe Valentin CEO of Double Harvest, FHSA sponsor and Mayor of Carrefour, have each advocated the participation of everyone and the involvement of private sector in youth coaching and the development of sport in Haiti.
