Haiti - January 12, 2011 : Digicel will plant 300.000 trees in memory of the disappeared
In order to mark in a symbolic way and honor the memory of the thousands of disappeared during the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010, Digicel has distributed thousands of candles in various camps of the metropolitan area.

"On behalf of thousands of families living in various camps of the metropolitan area, I would like to thank Digicel for its warm gesture on this sad occasion. The day of January 12 is devoted to commemorating the memory of our parents and friends who have left us and these candles will be very useful at the moment of meditation," said Michel Bertrand, responsible for camps hosting to the Champ de Mars.

Commenting on this gesture of solidarity, CEO of Digicel Maarten Boute, said "It's been a year since the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010 has removed hundreds of thousands of people to the affection of their families, Today, Digicel made a symbolic gesture that will undoubtedly help the bereaved families to have a special thought for their loved ones. However, despite everything, we must look and work resolutely for a better future and secure, and that is why our company will launch shortly a reforestation campaign to help in the fight against deforestation" campaign during which, 300,000 trees will be planted in memory of the 300,000 disappeared.
