Haiti - Security : Training against narco-trafficking 03/06/2017 10:40:34
As part of the training cycles to help the Haitian National Police (PNH) to combat drug trafficking, a new one-week session, organized by the Internal Security Service of the French Embassy in Haiti, was recently devoted to visits and searches of merchant ships. Implemented with the collaboration of the Interministerial Center for Drug Training (CIFAD) in Martinique, this training has benefited teams of coastguards and customs officers assigned to the commercial ports of Port-au-Prince and of Cap-Haitien, as well as officers of the Bureau for the Fight against Trafficking Narcotic drugs (BLTS), of officers of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCPJ) and an Inspector of the Security and Safety Service of the National Port Authority (APN). In addition, various aspects of the operation of maritime customs in the fight against narco-trafficking were discussed throughout the week: maritime geostrategy; Description of the port environment and merchant ships; Safety and security during checks; Equipment and equipment required, etc... Several practical exercises, notably on a cargo ship at the dock for a rice delivery, were also carried out thanks to the APN assistance. HL/ HaitiLibre
